President Mamnoon Hussain Thursday approved Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s advice for elevation of Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik and Senior Puisne Judge LHC Justice Sardar Tariq Masood as judges of Supreme Court of Pakistan against existing vacancies. The president gave this approval on a summary of Senate of Pakistan containing the Prime Minister’s advice, said a President House press release. Approving another summary, the president also approved PM’s advice for appointment of Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan as Chief Justice of LHC against the vacancy, which will occur on account of elevation of Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik, the incumbent Chief Justice to the apex court. The president also approved extension of one year in the tenure of four additional judges of the Peshawar High Court including Justice Muhammad Younis Thaheem, Justice Qalandar Ali Khan, Justice Mohammad Ghazanfar Khan and Justice Haider Ali Khan.
