A full court reference was held on Wednesday in honour of the Lahore High Court Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik on his elevation to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Senior Judge Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Chief Justice designate Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan, other Judges of the LHC and a large number of eminent lawyers as well as bar leaders were present on the occasion.
Advocate general of Punjab, additional prosecutor general Punjab, Pakistan Bar Council vice chairman, Punjab Bar Council vice chairperson, Lahore High Court Bar Association vice president and presidents of High Court Bar Associations Multan and Rawalpindi Benches also read the reference in honour of Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik.
Speaking at the Reference, Chief Justice designate, Justice Ijazul Ahsan congratulated the Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik and Senior Judge Justice Sardar Tariq Masood for their nomination as judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan said that the honour achieved by the chief justice was not easy, it came after years of dedicated services to the cause of justice.
He said that the chief justice introduced judicial reforms to provide justice to the litigant public. He said that Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik had endeavoured to modernize the court system and adopted an innovative and progressive approach.
Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik said that for the first time, the High Court was full to the brim.
“The number of ex-cadre posts was sufficiently increased. Recruitment and promotion of the judicial officers were carried out”, he added. Furthermore, he said, the decades old demand of the Bar was honoured by housing all ex-cadre Courts in one Complex in Lahore.
Justice Malik thanked the members of the Bar, who he always found supportive of his objectives.
