Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former deputy prime minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said on Wednesday that the district administrations and not the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) deserve credit for winning the local government elections.

Addressing the party leaders and talking to media along with Munawar Hussain Manj and Khurram Munawar Manj in Sheikhupura, Pervez said that the PML-N leaders had been receiving felicitations for nothing.

Parvez Elahi said that if the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) did not take notice of the activities of DCOs and DPOs in the second phase of the local bodies’ election and did not eliminate rigging then these elections would completely ruin the reputation of the ECP.

Directing the PML leaders and workers to fully participate in the second phase of local bodies election, he said that they should inform the people about unparalleled and revolutionary works undertaken during their five years of government in Punjab.

He said that there was no doubt that in the first phase of the local bodies election, the PML candidates did not perform that well. He said that the PML candidates who won foiling all tactics of the government deserved to be felicitated and saluted.

Pervez Elahi stated that they had informed the ECP in advance about all the tactics of the rulers in the local bodies election, and that none of the defeated candidates of any party were satisfied with the fairness and impartiality of the elections. He said that all the parties believed that elections were handed over to PML-N by the district administrations.
