David Cameron has been caught unawares moaning about the length of Prime Minister’s Questions after a grilling from Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn .

The Prime Minister said the 30-minute weekly showdown was getting ‘longer and longer’ after today’s clash in the Commons .

He made his remarks as MPs got up to leave the green benches nearly 10 minutes after PMQs should have ended.

Unknown to him at the time, a microphone near his despatch box was switched on and broadcast his comments to hundreds of thousands of TV viewers.

Another voice later said: “Well done everybody.”

Part of the reason the session ran late was because Tory MPs interrupted proceedings by heckling Jeremy Corbyn .

Backbenchers tried to drown out the Labour leader for so long they were given a stern ticking-off by Commons Speaker John Bercow.

He told them: “The leader of the opposition is entitled to ask questions without a barrage of noise and the Prime Minister is entitled to answer questions without a barrage of noise.

“That is what the public is entitled to expect!”

PMQs ran late last week too, when Mr Bercow said it would take as long as it needed to for questions and answers to be heard.
