SHC restrains NAB from arresting Asim’s banker relative

The Sindh High Court (SHC) Wednesday restrained National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting former minister Dr Asim Hussain’s banker relative Khalid bin Shaheen and granted him a pre-arrest bail.

Khalid bin Shaheen who is a Senior Executive Vice President and group chief of National Bank of Pakistan’s Home Remittance Department and is a relative of former minister Dr Asim Hussain.
Khalid on Wednesday approached the court seeking bail before arrest as the NAB is conducting inquiry against him but according to him he has nothing to do with any corruption or embezzlement.
Khalid’s counsel filed a bail plea against his possible arrest by the NAB and stated that the Bureau has issued a notice, summoning him without disclosing the particulars of subject.
The petitioner submitted that he was called up by the bank’s management on October 3 who sought remittance details on which he provided all the details. After the bank’s summon, he was investigated for three hours by Rangers and then he received a NAB’s notice.
The petitioner apprehends that he would be taken to unknown place by NAB; therefore, he should be granted a bail. Citing NAB and interior ministry as respondents, the petitioner requested the court to quash the notice issued by the NAB and grant him a pre-arrest bail.
The SHC bench approved Khalid’s bail plea against the surety bonds of Rs 500,000 and issued notices to the NAB and others respondents to come up on November 13.
