With the advent of a crackdown on vans some months ago to remove CNG kits, the Van Association has become ever stronger like many other associations in this nation. Last year the fare which used to be Rs2,500 from Malir Cantt, Karachi, to Gulistan-e-Jauhar campuses of schools has now been bumped up to Rs3,300 and just recently (Nov 1st) with petrol prices going up by Rs2, van contractor has asked for Rs200 increase in fare again. Not sure where this country is heading without any check and control after any policy implementation. And why it’s always parents who get the brunt of all such weaknesses in the system.
We have not yet won the fight for a fee reversal of three big private schools, which have yet to reduce their fees as per announcement of the PM, and now we have to deal with van fare hike. The CJ should take a suo motu of these culprits and put some kind of leash around their necks.
