I want to draw your attention towards the pressing issue of increasing illegal tobacco trade. Being a son of a tobacco grower from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, I know the significance of this crop for the people attached with this trade. Apart from other issues that the growers face, one matter that impacts their lives more than anything else is that of illegal tobacco trade that is going on all over the country without any check from government officials.
This illegal trade is growing and tobacco growers’ income is on the decline. The unlawful trade of cigarettes not only creates negative impact on the growers’ income but it also leads to huge financial loss in terms of low revenue generation for government. Through your newspaper, I would like to urge the government to take strict action against the people involved in illegal tobacco trade and award heavy punishment to them.
