Punjab government spokesperson Zaeem Hussain Qadri on Monday said that Shafqat Mehmood had shown political wisdom and honesty by quitting his position as PTI Lahore organiser while accepting the responsibility for party’s humiliating defeat in the local bodies’ elections.
Qadri said Mehmood had exhibited complete political sanity, and urged Imran Khan to follow suit instead of indulging in politics of sit-in and leveling baseless rigging allegations.
He asked the PTI chief to step forward and contribute towards nation building, saying, “Dharna politics has already caused serious dent to the national economy, besides hindering development process.”
Qadri said the PTI leadership was in state of shock over its worst performance in the local bodies’ elections, and advised Khan to show political maturity and eschew politics of criticism.
He said the results of local bodies’ elections had proved the fact that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was the most popular party of the country having its roots among the masses.
