Non-disbursement of salary to over 650 Sanitary Patrols (SPs) for the last three months has caused utter disappointment among them.
As per directives of Punjab government, male and female sanitary patrols were appointed in Rawalpindi for creating awareness among the people for eradication of dengue, measles, polio and other epidemics. Dozens among them resigned from their jobs due to excessive work and other problems. More than 650 sanitary patrols are still performing their duties but they are not being paid salary for the last three months.
“We have our families and school-going children and now the schools managements have issued final notices to our children for their expulsion due to non-payment of outstanding fees. Even shopkeepers have refused to provide us flour, sugar and pulses on credit due to non-clearance of outstanding dues,” said a group of SPs while talk to Online.
“If the salary is not paid to us immediately, we and our families will be left with no option except to die in starvation,” they added.
On the other hand, the District Health Department said that delay in payment of salaries has been caused to bank accounts problem. The salaries and outstanding dues will be paid to them in next few days, they assured.
