Poll favoritism: SHC moved against SP Larkana, SHO

A contempt of court application has been filed in the Sindh High Court Circuit Court, Larkana, under Article 204 of the Constitution against the SHO Haideri police station and senior superintendent of police Larkana.

The petitioner Advocate Qadir Bus Bhatti filed the application through his lawyer Habibullah G Ghouri.

The petitioner stated that he had filed a petition before this court which was finally heard and decided at the undertaking of additional advocate general that all the government functionaries including the respondents, being law enforcing agency, shall provide protection to the contesting candidates during local bodies election process and they would act strictly in accordance with law to maintain law and order situation, particularly on the poll day

Instead of providing protection to all the candidates contesting elections, the contemnors only protected the candidates of ruling party by providing them police mobiles, personnel and contingencies, he added.

In its order dated 15th October, 2015, Justices Salahuddin Panhwar and Syed Saeeduddin Nasir had directed the respondents to provide complete protection to the petitioner and other candidates who were contesting election in the area of Larkana division. The application will be heard tomorrow (Thursday).
