The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) female councilor Uzma Bashir for trampling of party’s rules during recent local bodies election.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza presided a meeting in Islamabad.
During the meeting, the PTI officials put forward their case, stating that councilor from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Uzma Bashir cast vote in the favour of another candidate instead of party’s own for chairmanship post in recent LB polls which is illegal and against the policy.
The officials demanded to cancel the membership of female councilor and to take action against her.
Subsequently, ECP invalidated Uzma Bashir’s membership.
