Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday congratulated candidates of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on winning their seats in the first phase of the local bodies elections.
The chief minister said that people had once again exposed those who had raised hue and cry over the so-called rigging in general elections of 2013.
Sharif said that PML-N candidates had achieved glorious success in local bodies elections due to support of the people. He said that politics of service, trust, honesty and transparency had won.
He said the splendid victory of the PML-N candidates reflected people’s confidence in the party leadership and in the development agenda of PML-N. He said that the huge success of the party meant that people wanted continuity of the policies of PML-N government under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Sharif said that those who created hurdles in the way of progress through pointless sit-ins last year should learn a lesson from their defeat and those engaged in the politics of lies and deception should consider changing their negative attitudes. He said that the historic victory of PML-N proved that people hate politics of protest and want development and prosperity in the country.
The chief minister said that peaceful and prosperous Pakistan is the agenda of PML-N and that the government is working round the clock for accomplishing this mission.
Sharif said that all out measures are being taken for ridding the country of terrorism, energy crisis, poverty and unemployment. He said that no effort would be spared for achieving the goal of progress and prosperity and bringing the country out of darkness. He asked the winning candidates to thank Almighty Allah and make service to the people their mission. The chief minister said that the successful candidates should live up to the expectations and hops of the people and utilise all their energies for resolving their problems.
