Former federal minister and veteran Pakhtun nationalist Afzal Khan Lala passed away in Islamabad on Sunday after protracted illness. He was 89.
The funeral prayer of the deceased Awami National Party (ANP) leader was offered at his ancestral village Darvesh Kalay in Matta, Swat.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of the veteran leader. He lauded the services of Afzal Khan for democracy in the country.
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif also expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of the senior ANP leader.
Acting National Assembly Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi also expressed grief over the sad demise. In a condolence message, the acting speaker lauded political, social services of the deceased.
Other political leaders also sent out messages on the social media to condole the death of the former minister.
