An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) ordered on Monday the arrest of 17 accused of Pakistan Television (PTV) headquarters attack as they were absent from the hearing of the case. They have to be presented in the next hearing that was adjourned to Dec 1.
On Sept 1 2014 a mob of protesters belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s (PAT) stormed PTV headquarters and forced its staff to take two of the state broadcaster’s flagship channels — PTV News and PTV World — off the air.
At least 103 people were accused. Only 86 of them appeared before the court for the hearing which was presided by ATC judge Syed Kausar Abbas.
A section of murder included in the FIR challan No 182 registered against the marchers was not presented before the court.
The 86 accused who appeared in court today, were arrested during the protracted sit-ins organised by the PTI and PAT against the government. The were later released on bail.
