Man desperate to discuss ’65 war with someone, anyone

Lahore – Our Wartime Correspondent: The Lahore city government has issued a warning to the public about one Saleem Butt, who is on the loose and desperate to discuss the 1965 Indo-Pak war with anyone that he can find.

“The problem started with the 50th defence day, which was celebrated recently,” said Fayaz Hassan, the DCO Lahore. “This caught Butt’s attention and he started liking photos of old pictures on Facebook.”

“Soon, he started reading up on it, not through credible sources, but on Facebook pages like Hattaan Te Nai Wikde and Urdu Point,” Hassan added.

“The situation got much worse by last month,” said Kamil Khan, Butt’s boss at the software company where he worked. “First, he wanted to discuss the conflict with anyone who was mildly interested and wanted to quickly establish that he knew more than others. Then, he started discussing the issue with anyone who was walking by. It got really ugly towards the end.”

“Soon, his work started suffering and he wasn’t even making attempts to hide sites about the ’65 war in a separate tab on his browser on his computer at work,” Khan added.

Authorities have asked the citizens of Lahore to remain calm but extremely vigilant. “He is ill-informed and dangerous. I repeat: ill-informed and dangerous,” said Saleem Raza, CCPO Lahore. “You are not to engage him and immediately call the authorities.”
