The Supreme Court has sought a reply from the government within a week on the expansion of US embassy building in Islamabad.
When a two-member SC bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal took up the case for hearing on Friday, petitioner barrister Zafar Ullah told the court that the expansion of the US embassy building has posed a serious threat to national security besides causing unrest among the masses at large.
“Why so much land has been allotted to the US embassy and expansion has been allowed. This is an issue of the internal security of the country. Answer should be sought from the government in this regard,” the petitioner prayed the court.
The Deputy Attorney General told the court that detailed information in this regard was being gathered and a report will be filed in the court as soon as possible.
The court directed the federal government to file a reply and adjourned the hearing for one week.
