The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has deferred local government elections in six each union councils of Chakwal and Attock districts, two union councils of Gujrat and ward numbers six and five of union council-41 and 47 Lodhran in pursuance of the orders of the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi and Multan benches.
According to a notification released on Thursday, the elections were deferred in UC Nos 15, 24, 25, 33, 36, 37 (Chakwal), UC Nos 35, 36, 57, 58, 63, 64 (Attock), UC No 4, 5 (Gujrat) and ward No 6 of UC-41 and ward No 5 of UC-47 (Lodhran).
District Returning Officer Mehmood Javed Bhatti said the ECP postponed elections scheduled to be held on October 31, in union councils of Chakwal, including Saloee, Dandot, Maingan, Balokasar, Laharr Sultan Pur. He said no polling staff and polling material would be dispatched to the polling stations for these five union councils.
