Sharif reviews arrangements for two-day seminar on business opportunities in the province

 

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting on Thursday to review arrangements for holding of an international seminar on business opportunities in the province.

The two-day seminar will be held at the beginning of November in Lahore in which foreign investment companies and officials will participate. Investors from Pakistan will also attend the seminar.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that Punjab had become a hub of investment due to excellent policies and business-friendly atmosphere. He said that the Punjab government has adopted a solid strategy for increasing investment opportunities in the province.

Communication and Works secretary and commissioner Lahore Division gave briefings on the arrangements for the seminar.

Sharif said that problems like poverty and unemployment could be overcome through the promotion of economic and trade activities. Sharif said that the holding of an international seminar would help in motivating foreign investors to make investment in different sectors in the province. He said that the seminar would go a long way in promoting foreign investment in Punjab. He further said that the foreign investors’ interest in the seminar reflected their confidence in the economic policies of the government.

He said that due to development programmes of the Punjab government, business activities had accelerated. However, there was room for further progress.

Provincial Minister for Finance Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, chief secretary, chairman Planning and Development, concerned secretaries, commissioner Lahore Division, chairman Punjab Investment Board, director general Walled City of Lahore Authority and senior officials attended the meeting.

CM REVIEWS PACE OF PUBLIC WELFARE PROJECTS:

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting which reviewed the pace of implementation of public welfare projects in the province.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharif said that transparency, standard and speed in the execution of projects were the hallmark of the Punjab government. He said that modern and economical transport facilities were being provided to the common man.

Sharif said that third-party audit of development projects had been made compulsory for ensuring transparency.

Sharif said that Lahore and Pakistan metro bus projects had been highly appreciated by the masses and hundreds of thousands of people were reaching their destinations daily using the facilities. He said that work was being carried out round the clock on the metro bus project in Multan. Similarly, he said, implementation of Orange Line Metro Train project had also been started in Lahore with the cooperation of China.

Mass Transit Authority managing director, NESPAK MD, Punjab Information Technology Board chairman, DG LDA and other concerned officials attended the meeting while Hanif Abbasi, commissioner Rawalpindi Division and other senior officials participated in the meeting via video conferencing from the office of commissioner Rawalpindi.
