Tribal elder among five killed in Quetta landmine blast


Five people, including a tribal elder, were killed in a roadside blast when the vehicle they were travelling by hit a landmine in Marwar area of Quetta district on Thursday.

A private news channel citing Levis officials said that the vehicle of tribal elder Gul Khan Marri accidentally hit a landmine in Marwar area, killing him, his two guards and two unidentified people.

After the explosion, officials of the Levies and Balochistan Constabulary reached the blast site and cordoned off the area.

Security officials confirmed that it was a landmine blast, adding that three people who were injured in the blast were ferried to a hospital for treatment. Security in the city was ramped up following the incident.
