Missing person case: ASF says CCTV record deleted

The Airport Security Force (ASF) on Thursday told the Sindh High Court (SHC) that close circuit television camera’s footage of the period when Mirza Saud Ali Baig was kidnapped from the airport had been deleted.

The SHC bench headed by Justice Irfan Saadat was hearing the petition filed by Wajeeha who moved the court against law enforcers for detaining her husband, Mirza Saud Ali Baig.

On Thursday’s hearing, the in-charge of ASF stated that CCTV record deleted automatically after 25 days and it could not be recovered. The court directed the ASF to furnish a certificate of the company which installed CCTV system at the airport within 15 days.

The petitioner stated that her husband, Mirza Saud Ali Baig, was serving as an architect in Arex Consultants, Dubai. On 31st August 2015, he was deported to Karachi along with his family and reached Karachi airport on 1st September, she stated.

She said: “As they reached immigration counter, some persons wearing civil dresses detained my husband without disclosing any reason of his arrest.” Citing DG Rangers Sindh, IGP Sindh, regional director of Civil Aviation Authority, director ASF and SHO airport police station as respondents, she prayed the court to direct the respondents to produce her husband before the court.
