An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Wednesday indicted 20 suspects involved in lynching two alleged suspects after twin suicide blasts outside the churches in Youhanabad.
People turned violent after the bomb blasts and caught two alleged suspects who had connections with the banned outfits. The police was about to shift them to police station for interrogation when the protesters dragged them out of the vehicle and started beating them.
Later, they gunned them down with the pistol found in the alleged militants’ possession. The protesters took the bodies to Ferozpur Road and burnt them.
ATC judge Muhamamd Kasim was hearing the case in which the investigating officer presented at least 20 suspects in the court along with their case challans.
The policeman told the court that the apprehended suspects had set two innocent residents on fire over suspicion of being terrorists after suicide bombings in the church.
SSP said that the suspects were taken into custody after facial recognition through NADRA’s record of images found in camera footage.
He said that all suspects had been found guilty during the investigation.
Meanwhile, the detainees denied the charge and pleaded innocence in the case.
Subsequently, the court indicted all the suspects and directed the police officer to present witnesses in the next hearing.
