IHC reserves judgment on maintainability of plea relating to delimitation of constituencies

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved judgment on maintainability of petition filed by PTI against delimitation of constituencies in connection with Local Bodies (LB) polls in federal capital.

A division bench of IHC comprising Justice Noor ul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Amir Farooq took up the case for hearing Wednesday.

Raja Imam Amin advocate appeared on behalf of petitioner while advocate SA Mehmood Saddozai represented Election Commission (EC).

Amin argued that objections on delimitation of constituencies were filed with EC but it rejected them. “We have no objection if delimitation of constituencies for 50 union councils is carried out. But rules and regulations were not adhered to in this respect.

Mehmood Saddozai counsel for EC said PTI had challenged delimitation of constituencies for all union councils as party while it should have approached EC as voters for challenging the delimitation of constituencies of all union councils.

The court while reserving judgement on whether the petition is maintainable or otherwise adjourned the hearing of the case.
