The companies operating in the federal capital, especially those with offices in high-rise buildings vacated their premises for thorough inspections after a 7.5 magnitude earthquake jolted the country.
Almost all multi-storey buildings situated in Blue Area and other parts of the city were vacated after the earthquake to keep people safe from any damage due to after-shocks and to inspect the buildings.
People in Blue Area on Tuesday told media personnel that complete building check was in progress to make sure that high-rise buildings were safe before opening them again for business.
After the massive quake, the telecom companies, Ufone, Mobilink, Zong and Telenor sent their employees home for safety reasons.
Mobile phone companies also directed their employees to stay alert at their homes for any advisory which may include extended work-from-home calls as complete inspection of offices for any damages may take longer than a day.
Representatives of Telecom companies told APP that the decision was taken in the best interest of employees’ safety and that any further measures would be taken as per the companies’ protocol.
China Mobile (Zong) sent an email to its employees, saying that the CMPak was overseeing the situation to ensure employees’ safety and well-being. As a precautionary measure, all Zong offices were evacuated immediately nationwide after the earthquake.
At the headquarter and the company’s Contact Center, employees were asked to leave for their homes in order to conduct a complete survey prior to declaring the facility safe for daily operations.
RAWAL TOWN ISSUES NOTICES FOR VACATION OF 312 DILAPIDATED BUILDINGS:
Rawal Town administration on Tuesday issued notices to the inhabitants of all 312 old and dilapidated buildings to vacate them immediately in the aftermath of October 26 earthquake, its prospective after-shocks and torrential rains.
The administration warned in the notices that whoever did not vacate the buildings would be proceeded against under the laws and such buildings would be sealed.
These old and dilapidated buildings are located in the areas of Mohalla Shah Chan Charagh, back side of Lall Haveli, Bohar Bazaar, Bhabhra Bazaar, Ghazni road, Akal Garh, Pull Shah Nazar, Kallan bazaar, Purana Qilla, Dingi Khooi, Kartar Pura, Raja Bazaar, Banni, Mohalla Nayarian, Naya Mohalllah, Moti Bazaar, Mohan Pura, Bagh-e-Sardaran and localities around the Jamia Masjid road.
Rawal Town administration spokesman Tahir Mehmood Khan said that the Town’s administration had taken these steps for protection of life and property of the citizens. He said that it was imperative for the inhabitants of those buildings to vacate them immediately to avoid any untoward incident.
