At least three Pakistanis, including two minors and a 70-year-old woman, were killed while more than ten people sustained injuries in unprovoked Indian gunfire and shelling on the working boundary since Sunday night.
The Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) targeted civilian settlements in Shakargarh and Zafarwal sectors. Hundreds of residents from 22 villages have fled the exchange of fire.
Meanwhile, Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh was summoned to the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Monday and deep concerns were conveyed to him over the unprovoked firing of Indian troops.
The Foreign Office spokesperson said that intentional targeting of civilians by India is a detestable and deplorable act. He stressed upon India to stop forthwith the ceasefire violations and respect the 2003 Ceasefire Arrangement for restoration of peace at the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary. The spokesperson offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls.
Pakistan also asked the Indian authorities to investigate into the threatening call received by the Sindh Governor House from New Delhi.
The Indian deputy high commissioner was also asked to share with Pakistan the results of the investigation.
