Swabi District Nazim Amir Rahman has asked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to materialise his promises regarding empowering the local government bodies.

In a press statement issued on Friday, Amir Rahman said that they having no intentions to disgrace Imran Khan or create hurdles in his political activities. He said that being political workers and followers of great Pakhtun leader Bacha Khan, the ANP workers are bound to respect all politicians, including Imran Khan, and continue efforts for political goals through peaceful and political means.

Amir Rahman reminded that not only components of Democratic Alliance Swabi, even elected representatives of Local Government bodies from all over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are demanding their rights and powers. Before completion of Local Government elections, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and his colleagues have repeatedly accredited themselves with empowering local government institutions. Now all elected representatives including District, Town Nazims and Naib Nazims are lacking powers and authority.

Rahman said that just to remind Imran Khan and other leaders of PTI ruling Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of their promises and commitments, they would be welcoming Imran Khan on the eve of his visit on November 1, with black flags. He said they are determined to welcome and respect Imran Khan but have a right peacefully protest.  He said that the PTI chairman must direct the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, especially Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, to transfer due powers and authorities to local government institutions, its office holders and councillors.
