Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf called on the Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday.
Talking to the federal minister, Sharif said that promotion of religious harmony, brotherhood and tolerance was very important for the country and that Punjab government had taken effective measures for this purpose. He said that role of Ulema and Mashaikh was of vital importance in this regard. He said that every citizen has to play his or her due role for setting up a peaceful society. The chief minister said that elimination of terrorism and extremism is the desire of every Pakistani and those who shed the blood of innocent people deserve maximum punishment. He said that the war against terrorism was the war for the country’s survival.
He said that implementation of national strategy for eradication of terrorism is yielding positive results and effective measures have also been taken in Punjab under National Action Plan (NAP). Similarly, he said, Operation Zarb-e-Azb is also yielding encouraging results and Pakistan Army has broken the back of terrorists. The chief minister said that the war against terrorists and their facilitators will be taken to its logical end and that 180 million Pakistanis will eventually prevail in this war.
