An earthquake of mild intensity jolted parts of Southern Punjab on Friday morning causing cracks in walls of houses and building but no causality was reported.
According to geological wing of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) tremours measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale were felt in various districts of Southern Punjab including Multan, Muzaffargarh, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Jampur, Chiniot and others cities at 05:07AM.
People of the area where the earthquake was felt rushed out of their houses reciting from Holy Quran. The quake caused fissures in walls of dozens of houses but no causality was reported from anywhere.
The epicentre of the earthquake was stated to be located South-East of FortMinro deep inside the earth’s crust.
