The construction work on the North-South gas pipeline project is expected to start in next three to four months, official sources in the ministry of petroleum and natural resources said.
“Pakistan and Russia have recently signed an agreement to lay 1,100 kilometre pipeline from Karachi to Lahore with a Russian investment of $2 billion, and hopefully the construction work will start within three to four months,” they told APP.
The pipeline would connect liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals located in Karachi with those of Lahore, they added. They said Pakistan was passing through a severe energy crisis and the project would prove to be a milestone to overcome it.
