Punjab government has approved Rs 310 million for renovation and repair of the buildings of schools which have been declared dangerous in Rawalpindi district.
Tenders in this respect will be invited on November, 7. Punjab government, instead of constructing new buildings in place of these dilapidated ones, has decided to repair and the old buildings. Therefore, it has directed district education officers of 38 districts throughout the province to create lists of dangerous buildings of the schools and forward them to the relevant departments.
Buildings of 95 schools have been declared dangerous in Rawalpindi district. Punjab government has decided to release funds for the repair work in phases.
The cost of repair work in these 95 buildings is estimated at Rs 630 million.
