- Arrives in Washington on four-day official visit
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif received a warm welcome from senior US officials upon his arrival in Washington on Tuesday.
PM Sharif, who is visiting the US on invitation of President Barack Obama, was presented a guard of honor by a smartly turned-out contingent of the US armed forces at the Andrews Airbase. National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Jalil Abbas Jilani, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Maleeha Lodhi and senior embassy officials were also present at the airbase.
Prime Minister Sharif was accompanied by his spouse, First Lady Kulsoom Nawaz, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, special assistant Tariq Fatemi, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
During his visit, PM Sharif will hold discussions on wide-ranging areas of bilateral interest with US President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and various Cabinet members. In these meetings, the two sides are expected to review the current state of Pakistan-US relations and identify new areas for future bilateral cooperation to further expand and enrich the canvas of this partnership.
In addition to these meetings, the premier will interact with members of the US Senate, House and senior US government officials. PM Sharif will also attend a business event organised by US-Pakistan Business Council in Washington DC and will address the US Institute of Peace. Interactions with US media representatives and the Pakistani-American community are also part of the visit.
But we never saw the smartly turned out guard nor many US officials. Is this news released by PILDAT?
