At least 35 returning officers on Wednesday approved the pleas of participating candidates in local bodies elections of changing polling booths.

The political parties have once again vigorously stepped in the political ground for contesting in local bodies polls.

The candidates of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and independent candidates claimed that most of the polling stations have been arranged near the houses of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates which is against the rules and regulations designated for LB polls.

They said that the incumbent government can affect the voters on the day of elections, therefore, they demanded to relocate the booths far away from the residences of PML-N.

Earlier, Parks and Horticulture Authority formed a four-member squad to ensure implementation of rules and regulations prepared for the upcoming local bodies elections in Lahore.

The administration has issued directives to remain in touch with the senior officials of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for assisting in preparations being launched by participating candidates. The PHA has been authorized to seize the banners, flexes and holdings extending the given size.

According to sources, PHA has confiscated dozens of banners and other printed materials for extending the planned size from the areas of Shaukat Khanum Road, Wapda Town, Valencia Town, Mcleod Road, G.T Road, G.P.O Chowk, Mall Road, Mazang, Garhi Shahu and Circular Road.

Moreover, the authorities have also grabbed the posters fixed by the candidates of Lahore High Court Bar Council.
