Resolution moved in Punjab Assembly against Shiv Sena’s extremists

A resolution was filed on Monday in the Punjab Assembly against Indian extremist organisation Shiv Sena for its acts against Pakistan and Indian Muslims.

The resolution demands the government to convince United Nations (UN) of terming Sena, a terror outfit and thus ban it.

The resolution was moved by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Faiza Malik. The resolution states that the house condemns Sena’s extremist activities. It also terms Sena a threat for regional peace.

The development has come after Sena activists stormed Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after arrival of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan in India. The meeting was scheduled between Khan and the BCCI president for the much hyped cricket series between the two sides but due to protest, the meeting had to be postponed till Tuesday.

The resolution stated that Muslims and people who endorse minority faiths are no longer safe in India.

Sena had also attacked Pakistan’s former foreign minister Khurshid Kasuri’s book launch in Mumbai. Observer Research Foundation (ORF) Chairman Sudheendra Kulkarni had to attend the launch with a face covered in black ink thrown at him by the Shiv Sena activists.
