Since the by-election, load shedding has once again been increased to 8 to 10 hours, a survey conducted by Pakistan Today has revealed.

Areas facing six to eight hours of load sheddign include Bhati Gate, Ichhra, Shadman, Rehmanpura, Ghazi Road, Muslim Town, Dharmpura, Tajpura, Misri Shah, Ghari Shau, Kot Khawaja Saeed, Yaadgar, Shahdra, Begumkot, Township, Garden Town, Chowk Yateem Khana , Lytton Road and some other areas of the city.

However, load shedding in posh areas such as Model Town, DHA and Gulberg has not been increased. These areas are facing the loadshedding of only four to six hours.

Load shedding of eight to ten hours has been imposed for rural areas of Punjab including areas falling within the limits of LESCO.

LESCO spokesman claimed that only six hours of load shedding was scheduled for the whole city and that no increase had been made in load shedding for the city. He admitted that rural areas under LESCO were facing load shedding of eight hours. However, residents in rural areas report that they have been facing power outages of up to 10 hours every day.
