An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday rejected the police report for discharging four accused in Kasur child abuse scandal.

Earlier, the police produced 20 accused including Haseem Amir, Aleem Asif, Waseem Abid, Ateequr Rehman, Saleem Akhtar, Tanzeelur Rehman, Yahya Kamran, Inam Ullah, Ali Majeed, Faizan Majeed, Waseem Sindhi, Usman khalid, Irfan Faridi, Abdul Mannan and Basharat before the ATC-II Judge Khawaja Zafar Iqbal amid strict security.

The investigation officer submitted a report and requested the court to discharge four accused including Faizan, Aleem, Waseem and Ramzan as they were found innocent during investigation. The court was further told that the final challan was still being reviewed by the prosecution and it would be submitted soon.

At this, the judge expressed displeasure observing that only the court was empowered to decide whether the accused were guilty or not. How, could police declare any accused innocent, he questioned. The court rejected the police discharge report and directed to submit the final challan by October 27, next date of hearing in the case.

Ganda Singh Wala/Kasur police had registered 31 cases in connection with the Kasur child abuse scandal against 20 accused. Twenty five cases were registered under sections 506, 293, 387, 386 and 377 of the criminal procedure code and Anti-Terrorism Act whereas six other cases were registered under sections of criminal procedure code alone.
