CM meets top officials to discuss Orange Line project

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting on Monday to discuss the plan of shifting of services of various departments and institutions from the route of Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project.

Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said that Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project is a trendsetter in the provision of economical, speedy and comfortable travelling facilities to the people. He said that the project would bring a revolutionary change in the transport system and that it would be a masterpiece of transparency, quality and speed, similar to other projects in Lahore.

The chief minister directed that the timeline fixed for transfer of services from the route of the projects and their move to new locations should be observed at every cost. He said that LESCO, WASA, Sui Northern Gas, PTCL and NTC departments should work in a coordinated manner for transferring services. He said that special attention should be paid to managing the traffic on the route so that people are not inconvenienced. He said that Labour Department should ensure implementation of a comprehensive plan for the protection of workers.

Shehbaz Sharif directed that all decisions taken with regard to implementation of the project should be implemented in letter and spirit. He directed NESPAK to set up a materials testing lab and said that the quality of construction material should be checked regularly besides monitoring all aspects of the project. He said that certificates for the materials would be obtained from NESPAK.
