A One day International Seminar on “Communication for Development” at Bahria University Islamabad had been organized with the collaboration of United Nation Information Centre (UNIC) on 19 October.
The objective of the Seminar was to share best practices in the field of media and development and to provide mass communications students with inspirational guidance for their professional growth.
The seminar was divided in three sessions in which respective speakers and moderators enlightened the participants about the communication and development.
Minister for Trade & Commerce ,Eng. Khuraam Dastgir Khan graced the occasion as a Chief Guest. While delivering his remarks he said that this seminar offered a good opportunity for highlighting the role of the various stakeholders involved in the development and humanitarian work in Pakistan, including the Government of Pakistan, the Member States, the donor agencies and the civil society. Communication is vital for sharing information on human development with wider audiences he added.
Earlier in his welcome address, Honorable Rector of Bahria University, Vice Admiral Tanveer Faiz HI (M) said that at present no individual or a nation can live and progress in isolation. Globalized Society is influenced and guided by the advanced communications technologies. Understanding the importance of Media in the national building and development, Bahria University has established Media Studies Departments at its Islamabad and Karachi Campuses. Technical knowledge is imparted to the students through advanced TV, Radio and internet technologies. he added.
