2 convicted for injuring fellow prisoners in lock-up

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday awarded 26 years jail term each to two accused for injuring two other prisoners in lock-up.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 230,000 on the accused Raza and Rashid.

ATC-II Judge Khawaja Zafar Iqbal announced the decision after hearing arguments and examining the available evidence.

According to the prosecution, the accused were implicated in a case and they were shifted from jail to ATC lock-up (Bakshi Khana) where prisoners were temporarily held before being presented in court. However, the accused attacked their fellow prisoners ­ Zaka and Mubashar ­ with blade and seriously injured them. Mustafa Abad police had presented the challan against the accused in 2014.
