Senator Sherry Rehman pays tribute to Karsaz martyrs

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Vice President Senator Sherry Rehman paid a glowing tribute to the martyrs of Karsaz tragedy, in her message on Sunday.

“None of us can ever forget how brave PPP workers made a human shield around the truck and gave their own lives so we all could live. Nearly 200 diehard workers of Pakistan People’s Party embraced martyrdom as a result of two bomb blasts at the welcome caravan of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on October 18, 2007. I salute the loyalty, bravery and courage of all those martyred and wounded party workers” Rehman said.

She said that the PPP workers and its leadership had proved over and over again that they were determined to defeat terrorism and extremism, and that that would sacrifice their lives for democracy in this battle. “The workers of Pakistan People’s Party wrote history with their blood and conveyed to the terrorists that they can sacrifice their lives for leadership and the country but will never bow down in front of them,” she said.

“There is a family like affiliation between leadership and the workers in Pakistan People’s Party – which cannot be seen in any other political party. After the first lethal blast, wounded PPP workers did not run away but held their ground with broken arms and legs to protect and rescue our leader, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto,” she added.
