Patwaris don’t like computerisation, won’t cooperate

Lack of cooperation from revenue department officials, a.k.a. Patwaris, is creating hurdles for the computerisation of land records.

Not even 50 per cent of the process has been completed yet, despite strict monitoring.

Talking to APP, Land Record Computerisation Assistant Director Rana Irfan said that there were 278 “mauzajat” (an area comprises 200 acres) in Tehsil Sadar Multan, but Patwaris provided records of only 141 mauzajat, while the records of 137 mauzajat have not yet been provided.

He said there were 66 mauzajat in Tehsil City, and the records of 24 have not presented by the Patwaris. The Patwaris were also issuing Fard-e-Malkiat (Record of Rights) and violating Punjab government instructions.

He said district administration had set August 31 as a deadline for submission of records.

The revenue officials have been directed repeatedly to submit records, the assistant director said.
