Describing the allegations levelled by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Daniyal Aziz as lies, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Friday requested the Director General (DG) Federal Audit to probe into hydel development funds from 2013-2014.
Aziz on August 21 had alleged that some Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders had illegally invested millions of rupees from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s Rs 25 billion hydel power funds in stock market to benefit some rich businesspeople from outside the province.
KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in a statement said, “The allegations levelled by PML-N lawmaker Daniyal Aziz regarding hydel development funds investment in stock markets are all baseless.”
“The provincial government has not invested a single penny from the hydel funds in the stock markets.”
Pervez Khattak said that in during the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) era, Rs 563 million from the employees’ pension funds had been invested in the stock markets and the present government had not only recovered Rs 175 million from the invested employees’ pension funds but also succeeded in taking back Rs 10 million as interest.
“Danyal Aziz is a liar and the KP government has served a legal notice to him,” he said.
