Security forces foil major terror bid, recover huge cache of weapons, bombs in Loralai

Frontier Corps (FC) and intelligence personnel foiled a major terror bid as they recovered heavy weapons and bombs during raid at militant hideouts in Balochistan’s Loralai district on Friday morning.

According to FC spokesperson, thirteen rocket launchers, one anti-tank mine, ten anti-personnel mines, eleven fuses, nineteen detonators, several LMG rounds, two binoculars and solar panels were recovered during raids at militant hideouts in Khost and adjoining areas in Loralai district. However, no arrest has been made during the action as the extremists escaped from the scene before arrival of the security forces.

Vast and sparsely populated but rich in resources, Balochistan province has remained under the grip of violence for over a decade which has claimed thousands of lives.

Law enforcement agencies are on high alert to avert any untoward incident on the occasion of Muharram-ul-Haram. Hundreds of suspects have been rounded up during raids across the country.

Thousands of Pakistani Shia Muslims will hold mourning processions on 10th of Muharram, a holy day commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), amid tight security fearing of terror attacks.

Unprecedented levels of security will be put in place in major cities while Army troops and Rangers will assist the police in some cities to ensure peace.

A ban on motorcycle riding will also be imposed in several districts as part of security arrangements.

Pakistan has long been under attack from local and foreign militants, killing tens of thousands of people in over a decade.
