Religious leaders to cooperate for maintaining peace during Muharram: IGP

Inspector General of Police Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has sought the cooperation of religious leaders to maintain complete peace in the city during Muharram ul Haram and thwart any untoward incident.

During his meeting with delegation of Pakistan Ulema Council here on Thursday, he said that religious leaders would play their role for ensuring peace and educate others to remain peaceful.

The SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani, SSP (Security) Mir Vais Niaz, Patron Pakistan Ulema Council Maulana Ishaq, President Maulana Qari Abdul Majeed Sabri, General Secretary Islamabad Maulana Tahir Aqeel, Qari Umer Rehman, Maulana Naib Khan Subhani, Muhammad Shehzad, Abdul Rehman, Maulana Khateeb ur Rehman and others stakeholders also attended the meeting.

The IGP said that it is the prime responsibility of police to ensure the protection of lives and property of citizens and their help would be sought from time to time for this purpose in case of any problem.

The delegation assured the IGP to cooperate with police and to promote harmony among followers of different schools of though. The delegation also informed the police chief about code of conduct of Council.
