People’s safety, security and prosperity top priority: president

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that safety, security and prosperity of the people of Pakistan are the top priority of the state, adding that action against terrorism from tribal areas to Karachi and against mafias would continue.

The President said this while talking to a delegation of prominent citizens from all walks of life who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday.

The President stated that the policies of the government for revival of economic activities in the country were correct therefore people particularly business community and intellectuals should support these policies in the best interest of the country and reject those elements who do not desist from sacrificing national interests over their personal interest. The President said that the new generation should not be misled by slogans and should analyze the problems of the country and wholeheartedly work for the uplift of Pakistan.

Hussain stated that he has directed the Balochistan government to devise plans for full utilization of the opportunities offered by China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and identify areas in the province for establishing industrial zones for ushering in prosperity.

The delegation comprised, among others, Justice (R) Saeed-ud-Zaman Siddiqui, Vice Chancellor SZABMU, Dr. Javed Akram, former Chief Secretary Sindh, Mr. Aijaz A Qureshi, renowned industrialist Mr. Bashir Ali Mohammad, Mr. Tariq Rafi, Mr. Shahid Shafiq, President FPCCI, Mian Idrees, prominent educationist Prof. Dr. Shabnam Khan, Ex-Vice Chancellor Karakuram University, Dr. Najma Najam and CEO Indus Hospital, Karachi, Dr. Abdul Bari Khan.

The members of the delegation also made recommendations for improving the performance in various sectors.
