Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) on Thursday decided to take action against party leadership that showed disinterest in Lahore’s by-election.
PTI chairman Imran Khan has summoned report regarding the assembly members and ticket holders who did not take part in election campaign.
Imran Khan has also given approval to Punjab organization to take action against negligent leaders.
An initial report about NA-122 by-poll was presented to the PTI chairman in which names of some of the party MNA’s and authorities have been listed.
PTI leadership had directed all the party MNA’s of Punjab to take part in election campaign but several ticket holders of Lahore and activists did not participate in Aleem Khan’s campaign.
Moreover, Chaudhary Sarwar has been given charge to take action against the relevant group.
In a closely contested by-election on October 11, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Ayaz Sadiq retained NA-122 Lahore seat by defeating PTI’s Aleem Khan with a margin of 2,443 votes.
The NA-122 constituency fell vacant after an election tribunal voided Sadiq’s victory there in 2013 over election-day irregularities.
