Religious affairs ministry says at least 56 pilgrims have been laid to rest in Saudi Arabia

Toll of Pakistani pilgrims martyred in Mina stampede escalated to 100 as Faisalabad’s missing Khalid Rumani was confirmed dead on Wednesday.

According to details, as many as 19 Pakistani pilgrims are still missing while two are under treatment in a Saudi hospital.

Religious Affairs Ministry has issued an update on the Mina tragedy according to which 100 Pakistan nationals have lost their lives. Of the 100 martyred pilgrims, at least 56 have been laid to rest in Saudi Arabia.

Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif had directed the ministry after the tragedy to upload details including passport numbers and names of the pilgrims who were missing, under treatment or were confirmed dead to the ministry’s website.

The ministry also set up a telephone line and an information desk to provide details to the families concerned. However, reports had surfaced earlier that the number was not functional.
