Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak appreciated efforts for promoting common traditions of the province and Scotland, and establishing investment and trade ties between the two federating units of Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
He also accepted the offer for enhancing mutual cooperation between the two and assured full cooperation in this connection.
The offer was made by Society for South Asia British Council Regional Director Shazia Khawar, who called on the CM at the CM Secretariat today. Member of the Provincial Assembly, Aneesa Zeb Tahirkheli was also present at the meeting and briefed the CM about the prospects of KP-Scotland friendship and mutual cooperation particularly in Energy, Higher Education, Health and Solid Waste Management sectors. She also suggested that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and the Scotland’s legislative institution be declared sister parliaments due to similarity in certain traditions and norms.
The CMsaid that proposed cooperation and collaboration between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and Scotland would certainly enable the both the governments to benefit from expertise of each other in certain development sectors. He also agreed upon the idea of exchange of parliamentary delegations and directed the concerned departments of the provincial government to hold preparatory meetings for exploring prospects and opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the areas of interests.
