National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday announced that more than 1,100 affectees had so far filed complaints with regard to gross irregularities and illegalities by management of Formanites Housing Scheme, Lahore.
These complaints are concerning both phase-I and phase-II of the Housing Scheme.
In response to a press statement issued by management of Formanites Housing Scheme, Lahore, the NAB outrightly rejected all such allegations terming these as baseless, incorrect, unfounded and unsupported.
The management of Formanites Housing Scheme, Lahore had levelled allegations against the Bureau and its functioning pointing fingers at questionable integrity and lack of professionalism of some of its officers.
The press release from NAB said that the clarification was meant to put the record straight once and for all.
It said the press statement in question was part of a secret agenda and propaganda campaign, aimed at maligning the Bureau, its functioning and some of its most seasoned and decorated officers.
The statement from NAB said that the character, working, track record, impartiality and performance of the Bureau and its officers had been unquestionable, impeccable, exemplary and praise worthy. It said that NAB had a strong resolve to fight corruption in all its forms and every sphere of life come what may, without taking into consideration any favour or fear.
The statement clarified that NAB as an institution was not dependent on the whims of any individual for its working and that no individual could influence course of any inquiry or investigation or its outcome to serve his personal agenda.
The management of the housing society had cleverly made an attempt to play down the magnitude, gravity and extent of the issue, NAB said.
“They have deliberately and consciously fabricated and misrepresented the facts. In doing so, they have made a mockery of the laws of the land, its legal process and the long standing grievances of the general public,” the statement said.
The Bureau said that the accused persons had used hard earned public money for their personal gains and amassed huge assets. They did not pay any heed to the hue and cry raised by helpless people and had instead turned a deaf ear to them.
The Bureau further said that a combined investigation team had been assigned the responsibility to probe the matter and liability had been calculated on basis of claims received from time to time.
The liability amount is bound to increase as more and more claims are pouring in.
