A factory owner managed to flee after the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday cancelled interim bail of the accused involved in a Rs 7 million gas theft case.
The single member bench of Justice Erum Sajad Gull heard the bail application of the accused Muhammad Ateeq.
During the hearing, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines’ counsel Zia ul Islam Munj submitted that the accused was owner of a wire heating factory located at Harbanspura.
He said that the departmental team raided the factory premises in April 2015 and found that the gas was being stolen from the main line. At this, the team registered a case against the accused at Harbanspura Police Station. He said that the department had solid evidence of gas theft against the accused including video footage and pictures. He pleaded the court to cancel the interim bail of the accused.
The petitioner’s counsel, however, contended that his client had been implicated in a fake case. He pleaded the court to confirm the accused’s interim bail granted on last hearing.
The court after hearing arguments of both parties cancelled the interim bail. The accused, however, managed to flee from the court premises after cancellation of his bail.
