Workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) thrashed PML-N MPA Farzana Butt outside the Basti Syedan Shah polling station in Shadman area on Sunday.
Reportedly, a scuffle ensued between highly-charged workers of the PTI and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz at the polling station. During the course of the scuffle, PTI workers thrashed PML-N MPA Farzana Butt who was also present at the polling station.
“PTI workers misbehaved with me and used abusive language against me and my party leadership. They threw chairs at me,” said the lawmaker.
Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police and Rangers reached the polling station and calmed the situation.
CM takes notice of threats to MPA:
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken serious notice of the threats being meted out to Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Azma Bukhari through SMS.
The chief minister directed the Punjab Police Inspector General to probe into the matter and submit a report. Earlier, Azma Bukhari complained to the IG that she had received threats through SMS.
