Google Buy Their Domain Back Off Guy Who Bought It, He Donates Money To Charity

Remember recently when we reported that one guy managed to buy the Google.com domain name in a freak moment of luck? Well, Google bought it back from him.

Sanmay Ved suddenly became the owner of the most visited domain name in the history of the internet when a website flaw made it available for a very short amount of time – and it only cost him $12.

But while Google quickly managed to acquire the domain name back and told Sanmay that he wouldn’t be compensated for it, they eventually gave him some money anyway.

Unfortunately, Sanmay hasn’t revealed exactly how much he received from the internet giant, but did say that it was over ‘10,000’ – and he has since given it all to charity.

He gave the money to an Indian foundation that he is an advocate for, which brings education to impoverished areas.

Speaking after the incident, Sanmay said: “The domain actually got added to my cart as seen by the green check-box, and the domain appeared in my cart.”

“I was hoping I would get an error at sometime, saying transaction did not go through, but I was able to complete the purchase, and my credit card was actually charged!”
